The Most Misunderstood Rule

For some reason, many high school and college athletes think they are free to transfer to another school without penalty if the head coach who recruited them leaves the university for any reason.  Truth is, an athlete isn’t permitted to transfer regardless of the reason a coach leaves.  In fact, the National Letter of Intent which every scholarship athlete signs clearly states that you are not signing with a coach, but rather a university. That’s why its so important to choose a school that you think you would still enjoy attending even if the coaching staff changes or if you are unable to play sports for some unforeseen reason.
